Condensation prevention functions disable the probe’s own temperature measurement and output parameters that depend on it. To enable temperature-dependent output parameters even when condensation prevention functions are used, you need to set an external source for the temperature compensation setpoint.

To get the most accurate measurement values, the external source needs to be able to provide the temperature compensation setpoint value constantly in real time, and the value needs to correspond to the temperature of the probe's measurement environment as accurately as possible. A suitable measurement point is as close to the probe as possible, but yet far enough so that ongoing condensation prevention warming of the probe does not have an effect on the measured value.

Temperature compensation using Indigo80 handheld indicator

If you are using the Indigo80 handheld indicator with your probe, the external temperature source can be any Indigo-compatible probe with a temperature output (for example, TMP1) that is connected to the same Indigo80 as your probe (for example, HMP7). When Indigo80 detects the connected probes, it guides you to check the probes' environment settings, where you can select to start as well as stop reading the temperature value from another probe.

When you disconnect and then reconnect the same probes to the same ports in Indigo80, Indigo80 will continue reading the temperature value from the previously selected probe. The same applies also when you restart Indigo80 with the same probes connected.

Temperature compensation using Indigo520 transmitter

If you are using the Indigo520 transmitter with your probes, TMP1 can function as the temperature source for HMP7. Temperature compensation turns on automatically when you connect HMP7 to probe 1 connection terminal and TMP1 to probe 2 connection terminal of the transmitter. Other probe combinations are not supported directly, but you can still update the temperature value through the Modbus TCP/IP interface of Indigo520.
