  • Cannot create visualizations from L3 files stored by older versions of BL-View.

New features and improvements

  • Added time zone support: BL-View shows data using the local time zone of the PC it is installed on.
  • Enabled changing some algorithm parameters in mixing layer height (MLH) calculation.
  • Enabled reading CL61 netCDF files with a non-default prefix.
  • Redesigned application-internal L3 netCDF file format.
  • Improved performance with redesigned CL61 file conversion.
  • Added backward compatibility with older versions of CL61 netCDF files.
  • Several smaller usability, performance, and stability improvements.

Known issues

Issue Remedy/Workaround
If the PC time zone is using daylight saving time, the 24-h display does not show the first hour of the day.
The MLH calculation sometimes produces erroneous results in very low altitudes. Use a minimum altitude filter in the MLH algorithm parameters in BL-View (System > Settings > Presets and Boundary layer min for the selected preset).
BL-View sometimes fails to contact the Vaisala license server during startup. In Windows Task Manager, restart the process Vaisala Remote Object Service manually.

Installation instructions

Download the firmware from docs.vaisala.com. The package includes the necessary software files and release notes.

If you are installing BL‑View to a computer that has a previous version of BL‑View, back up your data and uninstall the previous version before installing the new version.
