Connecting Indigo520 Transmitter to OPT100 Optimus DGA Monitor Technical Note

It is recommended to install the Indigo520 transmitter before turning on DGA Monitor power. The DGA Monitor should be fully grounded and wired before turning on Indigo520.
  • Cable (DGA Monitor wiring connected at the factory)
  • 6‑mm Allen key
  • 5‑mm Allen key
  • 4‑mm Allen key
  • Screwdriver with 3-mm-wide (0.12‑in) flat head
  • Bolts and washers

Indigo520 can be mounted in multiple ways. For more information, see Indigo500 User Guide (M212287EN), available at docs.vaisala.com. Note that the length of the cable outside DGA Monitor is 1.5 m [4.9 ft].
  1. Make sure the DGA Monitor power is turned off.
    1. Open the OPTPSU power supply cabinet. Turn off switch S1 and circuit breaker F1. DC OK LED on the power supply should be turned off. Close the power supply cabinet when done.
  2. Open the cable gland marked Spare on the bottom of DGA monitor and feed the cable through the cable gland.
  3. Shield the cable and tighten the cable gland.
  4. Connect the red and black wires to terminal block at position Y5.
  5. Connect the cable connector to COM0/COM5 on the bottom side of the DMU. Make sure the brown wire is facing you.
  6. Using cable ties, route the cable along the metal enclosure to ensure proper shielding.
  7. Install the mounting bracket to the DGA Monitor. Tighten bolts using a 6-mm Allen key.
  8. Open the Indigo520 transmitter cover using a 4-mm Allen key.
  9. Install the transmitter to the bracket with the weather shield. Place washers under the M6×16 bolts and tighten the bolts using a 5-mm Allen key.
  10. Feed the cable through the M20 × 1.5 cable gland.
  11. Shield the cable and tighten the cable gland to 8 Nm.
  12. Connect wires inside the transmitter.
  13. If needed, ground the transmitter. Feed the grounding cable through the M16 × 1.5 cable gland and connect it to the grounding screw on the transmitter. Tighten the cable gland to 6 Nm.
  14. Check that the unused cable glands are plugged.
  15. Close the transmitter cover. Tighten the bolts to 4.5 Nm using a 4-mm Allen key.
  16. Turn on DGA Monitor power. See OPT100 Installation Guide, available at docs.vaisala.com.
  17. Turn on Indigo520 Transmitter power by turning on breaker F3 for auxiliary device inside the DGA Monitor.
  18. Close the DGA Monitor door.
