An ozone sounding with RS41 consists of an ozone sensor unit, Ozone Interface Kit RSA411 or RSA412, and RS41 radiosonde. Other equipment needed is also explained. For detailed information on the radiosonde, see RS41-SG and RS41-SGP User Guide (M211667EN).

In an ozone sounding, the radiosonde is attached to a styrofoam flight box that contains the ozone sensor unit and the interface card. The battery for powering the ozone pump is placed in a compartment on the side of the box. For information on performing an ozone sounding with Vaisala Radiosonde RS41, see MW51 User Guide (M212751EN) on the DigiCORA installation package.

Ozone sounding is possible only with a radiosonde that has EPS covers. The RS41 E-models are not suitable for ozone soundings.
