The measured cell current received from the ozone sensor is filtered using a median filter. The filtering is made by calculating the median of a given number of consecutive samples. The median is the middlemost sample in the order of magnitude. This algorithm cuts all remarkably higher and lower measurement results compared with other measurement results near the measurement. You must give the median filter radius as part of the ozone preparation data.

The filter window length is calculated from the radius as follows:

Filter window length = 2 × Filter radius + 1

The median filter window length must be clearly shorter than the ozone sensor response time. According to GAW Report 268, the ozone sensor response time is typically 18–28 seconds. A typical value for the window radius with RS41 is 4, resulting in a filter window of 9 seconds. You can disable the filter by setting the filter radius to 0.
