30-mm wrench, 1 3/16" wrench, or
adjustable wrench (not provided)
The process threads of the DMT153
transmitter can have sharp edges. To avoid injury when touching the threads, wear protective
gloves.
After selecting a suitable measurement
location, install the transmitter as instructed below. Note the maximum operating process
pressure for DMT153, 50 bar (725 psi), absolute.
Remove the yellow transport protection cap from the transmitter.
Do not touch the filter with your hands.
Prepare the sealing of the connection.
Transmitter with ISO G1/2" thread or 3/4"-16 UNF thread: place the sealing ring at the base of the thread.
Always use a new sealing ring; do
not reuse a previously installed one.
Transmitter with 1/2" NPT thread: do not use a sealing ring. Instead, apply high-density PTFE tape on the
thread.
Make sure that the threads on the mounting point are of the
correct type, and fasten the transmitter to the mounting point. Tighten the transmitter to
hand-tightness.
Do not use excessive
force at this point, and check that the sealing ring (if used) remains centered.
Use a 30-mm wrench to tighten the connection. If you do not have a
30-mm wrench, use a 1 3/16" wrench or an adjustable wrench.
Tightening torques for different thread
types:
ISO G1/2": 25 Nm with plastic sealing rings (for example, PTFE), and 25 Nm with metal sealing
rings (for example, copper or aluminum).
3/4"-16 UNF: 25 Nm with plastic sealing rings (for example, PTFE), and 25 Nm with metal sealing
rings (for example, copper or aluminum).
1/2" NPT: 25 Nm, or tighten 2–3 turns past finger-tightness.
CAUTION Only tighten the
transmitter from the 30-mm tightening nut. Do NOT apply force to other points in the
transmitter body.
