These are general instructions for
mounting the refractometer. Plan the process‑specific installation according to your
requirements. Contact Vaisala technical support for further assistance if needed.
-
Familiarize yourself with the safety instructions of the installation site.
-
Make sure the process line is depressurized and empty.
-
Measure the needed space for the refractometer and the connection.
-
Use the refractometer support to support the weight of the refractometer. Loosen the
bolts with a 5‑mm Allen key if you need to rotate the sensor support.
| The refractometer support prevents
the weight of the refractometer from pulling at the non-metallic piping. |
-
Remove the light cover bolts using an 8‑mm flat head screwdriver. Keep the bolts for
later use.
-
Install the refractometer into the process pipes with the nuts provided. Make sure the
cable glands on the refractometer are in a downward position.
-
If you are using a flare-type connection, insert the nut over the pipe. Heat the
end of the pipe and push it over the connection. Finger-tighten or use pliers to
tighten the nut.
-
If you are using a pillar-style connection, insert the nut over the pipe. Install
the bushing into the pipe and push the pipe into the connection. Finger-tighten or use
pliers to tighten the nut. Follow manufacturer's installation instructions for
pillar-style fittings.
| CAUTION Do not over-tighten
the plastic nuts as they may break. |
| If you need to remove the flow cell
before installing the refractometer, install the tube fittings before the end plate.
Tighten the end plate bolts to 0.5 Nm with a 3‑mm Allen key. |
-
Reinstall the light cover. Tighten with an 8‑mm flat head screwdriver.
-
Make sure the refractometer is firmly in place and that there is no excessive
vibration. Support the piping if needed.
