This quick guide helps you to get started with Vaisala Battery Management Unit BMU801 and describes the BMU801 LED indications.
BMU801 provides power management and optimized battery charging in solar- and DC-powered systems. By default, it supports one or two 2.6, 7, 21, or 26 (±10 %) Ah 12 V valve‑regulated lead‑acid (VRLA) batteries.
BMU801 receives charging power from solar panels with 12 V nominal voltage or from an external DC power supply. When multiple input sources are required, BMU801 can accept input from two solar panels and one DC power supply simultaneously.
Safety
WARNING Do not replace components when the system is powered up. Disconnect all power sources before performing maintenance procedures.
WARNING Only use the device for charging undamaged 12 V lead-acid type rechargeable batteries with electrolyte solution (WET), electrolyte absorbing mats (AGM), or gel-type electrolyte (GEL). The device is not suitable for charging lithium-ion batteries.
WARNING Do not use the device for charging non-rechargeable batteries.
CAUTION Do not connect too high DC input voltage to the device. If the maximum input voltage is exceeded, the device will stop operating.
