Plan the installation location carefully before installation. See Choosing installation location.

Before starting, locate the emergency shower.
  • Flange adapters (4 pcs)
  • Spacer (1 pcs)
  • Isolation valve with handle
  • Retractor
  • Nuts and spring washers
  • 16‑mm wrench
  • Protection caps (4 pcs)
  • Wash connection
These are instructions for mounting the SDI5 Safe-Drive with the retrofit mounting kit. Use the retrofit mounting kit if you are updating from PR-23-SD Safe-Drive to SDI5 Safe-Drive. The retrofit mounting kit is used for a weld free installation using the old welding connection.

Plan the process‑specific installation according to your requirements. Contact Vaisala technical support for further assistance if needed.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the safety instructions of the installation site.
  2. Make sure the process line is depressurized and empty.
  3. Install the flange adapters into the welding connection.
  4. Install the hand wheel.
  5. Install the spacer and align the isolation valve and retractor with the welding connection. Make sure the isolation valve is closed as shown in the figure. Two persons are required for the installation. It is recommended that the valve handle is pointing upward.
  6. Cross-tighten the bolts to 27 Nm using a 16-mm wrench. Hold the equipment level while tightening.
    CAUTION Be careful not to over-tighten. Using the ball valve will become difficult if the connections are too tight.
  7. Install protection caps over the nuts. This prevents incorrect usage when the refractometer is retracted.
  8. Make sure all connections are properly tightened.
