You can configure the SunSpec Modbus interface for data reporting.

The SunSpec Modbus interface is disabled in the configuration by default. First you need to enable the interface and then open the TCP port for Modbus connection in the firewall settings.
Vaisala recommends that you:
  • Open the port only for the interface that is permanently used for Modbus.
  • Use only local network.
  • Allow traffic only from specified IP addresses.

The following example shows how to open a default TCP port for Modbus (5020) for traffic from the allowed source IP address through eth1 (DME801 plug-in module) interface.

  1. In the Web UI, go to Settings > Station parameters.
  2. Under the parameter group features, set the Active value to on for the parameter SUNSPEC_1.
  3. To save the changes and take them into use, select Save and restart script.
When the script has restarted, refresh the browser to get the changes visible.
  4. Go to Settings > Network > Firewall.
  5. Under User-defined rules, select Add rule and set the following:
    Enabled
Check the box to enable the rule.
    Name
Give a name for the rule, for example, SunSpec.
    Protocol
    Select TCP.
    Ports
Type the default TCP port for Modbus in DMU801, 5020.
    Interfaces
    Select eth1.
    Source IP addresses

Type the allowed source IP address, for example 192.168.10.101.

  6. To save the changes, select Save.
