Plug‑in modules DMA801/DMA802 and DMS801 have internal surge protection to protect the serial and analog interfaces.
| DMU801 base unit serial connectors X2, X3, and X5 do not have strong surge protection. Vaisala recommends external surge protection when using DMU801 base unit serial ports for connecting sensors or other devices that are located outside the weather station enclosure. If the connected device is inside the enclosure, no extra surge protection is needed. |
