In order to perform RI calibration, you need:
- Indigo520 transmitter or Vaisala Insight software
- Sample holder
- Cleaning solution
- Tissues
- Nominal reference RI liquids, see below
- Protective clothing
- Environment with a good ventilation
Nominal reference RI liquids
RI calibration is performed using a set of nominal reference RI liquids that cover the entire measurement range of the prism. The selection of nominal reference RI liquids varies depending on the type of prism in use, as different types of prisms cover a specific RI measurement range.
- A = RI 1.320–1.530 nD Sapphire prism
- B = RI 1.360–1.570 nD Sapphire prism
The prism type can be identified from the configuration code located on the side of the refractometer.
For refractometer models PR53AC, PR53AP, PR53GC, PR53GP, and PR53SD, refer to the 7th digit of the configuration code.
For refractometer models PR53M and PR53W, refer to the 6th digit of the configuration code.
CAUTION Each liquid has their own safety instructions with them. Read the instructions carefully before you start RI calibration. |
