Cleaning the prism
In most applications the prism stays clean due to its self-cleaning effect.
In case of a coating problem, the preferred solution is to try to increase the flow velocity, for example, by installing a pipe portion with smaller diameter. If increasing the velocity does not provide a solution, consider installing a wash nozzle and a wash system. See PR53 Prism Wash System User Guide (M212808EN).
If the prism needs mechanical cleaning:
- Clean the prism with a soft cloth or with a glass fiber brush, if the dirt is resilient.
- Use water or if needed, a suitable solvent.
- Dry the prism gently using a lint-free cloth, such as a microfiber cloth.
Do not rub the prism using sand paper, rubbing compound, wire brush, and similar. |
Pay special attention to cleaning the prism when performing RI calibration. |
Cleaning the refractometer
Clean the refractometer by using a suitable solvent and a moist cloth.
