These are general instructions for the refractometer mounting. Plan the process‑specific installation according to your requirements. Contact Vaisala helpdesk for further assistance if needed.
  1. Familiarize yourself with the safety instructions of the installation site.
  2. Make sure the process line is depressurized and empty.
  3. Install the mounting equipment into to the process line.
    1. If you are mounting with a flange, weld the flange half into the process pipeline.
    2. If you are mounting with a clamp, weld the ferrule into the process pipeline.
  4. Make sure the wash plug is firmly in place so that there is no leakage. If your refractometer will have a wash system, install the wash system non-return valve before mounting the refractometer.
  5. Mount the refractometer. Make sure the cable glands on the refractometer are in a downward position.
    Be careful not to damage the wash nozzle at the end of the probe when inserting it into the pipe.
    1. Install the gasket and tighten the flange bolts. Tighten according to the strength class of the acquired bolts.
    2. Install the O-ring and tighten clamp bolts to 44 Nm with a 17‑mm wrench.
  6. Make sure the refractometer is firmly in place and that there is no excessive vibration. Support the piping if needed.
