Vaisala provides occasional updates to the firmware of VaiNet devices to maintain and improve product functionality. These updates can be installed as necessary by the administrator of the viewLinc Monitoring System, or by Vaisala as part of a support contract. This document provides information that helps to decide when to apply firmware updates, and how to do so in an efficient manner that minimizes the impact to the operation of your viewLinc system.
Follow these guidelines when considering firmware updates to VaiNet devices:
- Update only when there is a need to do so.
- Keep AP10 access points updated to a level that is compatible with the data logger firmware and features you are using.
- Contact helpdesk@vaisala.com to request firmware update files, and to answer any questions you may have about performing the update in your system.

Remember that RFL100 data loggers can use any AP10 access point that is of compatible frequency model, belongs to the same system, and is in the wireless range. This means that the firmware version of all AP10 access points on a site should be compatible with the features used by any RFL100 on the site. For example, if there are any RFL100 data loggers using CO2 measurement, all AP10 access points on the site must have at least firmware version 4.0.0. |
| Unless specifically instructed to do so by Vaisala, do not roll back firmware to an earlier version than is currently installed on the device. |
