Follow these instructions to install the
refractometer with a flow cell. Notice that the images in this instruction may differ from the
flow cell you have for your process.
Make sure the process line is depressurized.
Weld ferrules into the process pipeline according to material and system
requirements.

Install gasket into the ferrule.
Install flow cell using clamps.
Finger tighten to 3 Nm if you are using the clamp with one tightening screw.
Tighten to 28 Nm with 9/16" wrench if you are using the sanitary clamp with two
tightening screws.
Install gasket for the refractometer.
Mount the refractometer. Make sure the cable glands on the refractometer are in a
downward position.
Finger tighten to 3 Nm if you are using the standard clamp (with one tightening
screw).
Tighten to 28 Nm with 9/16 inch wrench if you are using the high pressure clamp
(with two tightening screws).
Install the wash nozzle and the check valve. If you are not using a wash system,
install a plug with a clamp.
Use lubricant on the wash
nozzle gasket (2) or plug gasket to make the installation easier. Make sure the
lubricant is suitable for the process medium.
Push the wash nozzle (3) into the wash connection (1) and fasten it with a clamp
(4).
Install the gasket (5) and adapter (6) and fasten them with a clamp (7).
Add 2-3 rounds of PTFE tape on the check valve (8) threads.
Install the check valve (8) and tighten it using a 9/16 in wrench. Follow the
manufacturer's instructions.
CAUTION Be careful not to
over-tighten. Over-tightening can damage the valve and create leakages.
Make sure the refractometer is firmly in place and that there is no excessive
vibration. Support the piping if needed.
