These are general instructions for the
refractometer mounting. Plan the process‑specific installation according to your requirements.

Familiarize yourself with the safety instructions of the installation site.
Make sure the process line is depressurized and empty.
Weld the ferrule into the process pipeline.
For optimal self-cleaning properties,
install the refractometer in a 10 ° downward angle.
If your system must comply with
EHEDG, 3-A or other sanitary standard, see the standard for more detailed welding
instructions.
Install the gasket.
If your system must comply with the EHEDG
sanitary standard, use a gasket that complies with the current version of the EHEDG Position
Paper.
Mount the refractometer. Make sure the cable glands on the refractometer are in a
downward position.
Finger tighten to 3 Nm if you are using the standard clamp (with one tightening
screw).
Tighten to 28 Nm with a 9/16 inch wrench if you are using the high pressure clamp
(with two tightening screws).
Make sure the refractometer is firmly in place and that there is no excessive
vibration. Support the piping if needed.
