CAUTION Before starting, read the maintenance safety section in the OPT100 User Guide (M211858EN). Familiarize yourself with the safety requirements of the installation site.
CAUTION When performing the replacement outdoors, make sure weather conditions allow safe and clean maintenance. The spare parts and the interior of the DGA monitor must remain dry and clean to avoid equipment damage and contamination of the measurement system.
Wear protective eyewear and gloves.

Figure 1. Valve numbers and locations
  1. Stop measurement and complete the uninstallation procedure as instructed in OPT100 User Guide (M211858EN).
If you are unable to complete the uninstallation procedure due to a faulty valve, close the transformer oil valves and retrieve an oil container for spillage. Change the faulty valve following these instructions until 15. Complete the uninstallation after changing the faulty valve and proceed to change other valves as needed.
  2. Make sure the power is turned off.
  3. Place absorption material suitable for the oil at the bottom of the cabinet to contain any spillage.
  4. Loosen the screw of the valve connector.
  5. Remove the connector from the valve and store the rubber gasket for later use.
  6. Remove the valve by opening the 2 screws that are NOT sealed with red paint. Do not use torque wrench to loosen screws.
  7. Clean oil and dirt from the aluminum surface of the oil block under the valve.
CAUTION Do not push any dirt into the valve ports in the oil block.
CAUTION Do not use any solvents to clean surfaces.
  8. Unpack the new valve and remove the 2 temporary plastic caps (white and red).
Make sure the O-rings are not removed with the red cap.
  9. Apply proper flathead bit to the torque wrench and set it to 1.8 Nm.
  10. Place the new valve to the correct location and finger tighten the 2 bolts loosely.
Make sure that the valve is pointing the correct way. Manual override lock must always be on the right.
  11. Tighten the 2 screws NOT sealed with red paint to 1.8 Nm with torque wrench. The torque wrench clicks when the correct torque is reached.
  12. Place the rubber gasket over the new valve pins.
  13. Plug the valve connector into the new valve. Make sure to match the correct connector with the correct valve. The cables are marked with valve numbers. See Figure 1.
  14. Set torque wrench to 1 Nm … 1.8 Nm and tighten the connector mounting screw.
  15. Clean any oil or dirt from inside and outside the cabinet.
  16. Close valve 5 and open the other valves. See how to open and close valves from the OPT100 door label.
  17. Perform the initialization procedure as described in OPT100 Installation Guide (M211857EN).
