BMU801 utilizes Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology with solar panels to maximize efficiency and power extraction under all conditions.
Solar panels have a maximum power point, which refers to the optimal conditions where the panels produce the most power. MPPT technology constantly monitors the solar panel's maximum power point and adjusts the output of the panel to optimize performance.
The efficiency of power transfer from the solar panel's solar cells depends on, for example, the amount of sunlight falling on the solar panel and the temperature of the solar panel. MPPT is able to search, find, and keep the optimized maximum power point to provide highest power transfer efficiency regardless of the operating meteorological conditions. The technology checks the output of the solar panel's photovoltaic module and compares it to the battery voltage. It then adjusts the output voltage to get the maximum current into the battery from the solar panel.
