BMU801 has 2 battery connectors to enable parallel connection of 2.6, 7, 21, or 26 Ah 12 V VRLA batteries.

Connect the cables from the batteries to the battery connectors Batt 1 and Batt 2 in the BMU801 front panel.

If you have only 1 battery in your system, connect it to Batt 1. Powering up the system when running on battery (only the battery and no DC input connected) requires that the battery is connected to the Batt 1 port.
