Top-level measurement groups represent physical locations or logical entities that contain areas to be monitored. A top-level measurement group can be a single building, but it can just as well consist of multiple buildings or a single space within a building. The choice is up to the administrator that defines the top-level measurement groups.
The scope of top-level measurement groups is also significant for user management, as access to users that have operator or viewer role is granted for each top-level measurement group. Administrators can always see all top-level measurement groups that belong to the same Jade account.
The structure below top-level measurement groups consists of measurement groups and measurement locations:
- Measurement groups are used to connect measurement locations that logically belong together, typically for a single space or floor. They help to navigate the top-level measurement group when viewing measurements, and provide more context for the measurement locations.
- Measurement locations represent the exact physical points where measurements are performed, for example a room or a fridge.
Data sources are linked to measurement locations. Data sources consist of a measurement device, a port, and a measurement parameter.
- Measurement devices are Vaisala devices, such as data loggers, or transmitters.
- Port refers to the physical port in the measurement device where a measurement probe or sensor is connected.
- Measurement parameter refers to the type of measurement, such as temperature or relative humidity.
