To ensure reliable measurements, keep the
windows of the transmitter and receiver units and the RAINCAP rain sensor relatively clean.
Dirty windows give too optimistic visibility reading and too pessimistic precipitation
intensity reading.
-
Check that the windows, hoods, and the rain sensor are free of condensed water, ice, or
snow.
-
Before touching the rain sensor, remove excessive static charges from your body. Ground
your hand first by touching grounded metallic parts of the installation.
| This step is required because the
measuring principle does not allow for proper ESD protection of the rain
sensor. |
-
Using low pressure, spray 50 % isopropyl alcohol on the transmitter and receiver
windows, the rain sensor, and the rest of the mechanics. Spray enough solution to dissolve
and loosen any dirt.
-
Wrap a soft, lint-free cloth around the transmitter end of the cleaning tool.
-
Wipe the transmitter window until it is clean.
-
Take a new, clean cloth and wipe the receiver window until it is clean.
-
Take a new, clean cloth and wipe the rain sensor gently until it is clean.
| CAUTION Be careful not to
scratch the lens or rain sensor surfaces. |
-
Wipe the rest of the mechanics as well.
-
Wait until the windows are dry.
