DMU801 contains a lithium real-time clock (RTC) battery to keep the system clock running during power outages. The battery type used in DMU801 is CR1225/BR1225, which lasts for a minimum of 5 years if DMU801 is powered down. When DMU801 is operating normally, the battery lasts longer.

Replace the battery before it runs out. If the battery is empty when DMU801 is powered down, the weather station date and time are lost when DMU801 is powered up again. When DMU801 is operating normally (and the battery is not used), Vaisala recommends replacing the battery every 15 years, or when the expected date of expiration determined by the battery manufacturer is reached.

Vaisala recommends using a Panasonic, Varta, or Renata battery.
WARNING Do not replace the battery with a battery of an incorrect type. If you do, there is a risk of deflagration. Dispose of used batteries according to statutory regulations.
  1. Locate DMU801 in the enclosure.
  2. Remove the battery holder including the battery by pulling the battery cover out with fingers.
