You can configure GOES data message to be sent automatically to the GOES link if you have a GOES transmitter in the weather station.

By default, GOES transmission bit rate is set to 300 bps and transmission is centered, that is, occurs in the middle of the transmission window. The transmission interval is set to 1 hour.

  1. In the Web UI, go to Settings > Station parameters.
  2. Under the parameter group features, set the Active value to on for the parameter GOES_1.
  3. To save the changes and take them into use, select Save and restart script.
When the script has restarted, refresh the browser to get the changes visible.
  4. Find the parameter group goes_1 .
  5. Type the GOES transmitter identifier in the following parameter:
    transmitterId
Unique transmitter identifier (8 hexadecimal digits). Provided by the satellite service operator.
  6. Configure the following settings for the timed (primary) message. The settings are provided by the satellite service operator.
    primaryBitRate
Assigned transmission bit rate for timed messages (default = 300).
    primaryChannel
Number of the assigned transmission channel for timed messages.
    primaryTransmitInterval
Assigned transmission interval for timed messages.
    primaryTransmitTime
Assigned transmission time for timed messages.
    primaryTransmitWindow

Assigned transmission window length for timed messages.

For example, if the transmission interval is 01:00 (hh:mm), transmission time 00:16 (hh:mm), and transmission window 00:10 (mm:ss), the timed (primary) messages are transmitted once per hour, within 10‑seconds window that starts 16 minutes past the full hour.

    primaryTransmitEnabled
Select true to enable transmission of timed (primary) messages.
  7. Configure the following settings for random (secondary) message.
Transmitting of random (secondary) messages is not part of the standard AWS810 configuration by default. Configure these parameters only if your system uses random (secondary) messages.
    secondaryBitRate
Transmission bit rate for random messages (default = 300).
    secondaryChannel
Number of transmission channel for random messages.
    secondaryTransmitdelay
Time delay from message creation to transmission start.
    secondaryTransmitRepeat
Number of transmission repeats, that is, how many times the message is sent.
    secondaryTransmitInterval

    Interval for transmission repeats.

For example, if the transmission delay is 00:10:00 (hh:mm:ss), transmission repeat 2, and transmission interval 00:05 (hh:mm), the random (secondary) message transmission starts 10 minutes after the message has been created and gets sent twice with an interval of 5 minutes.

    secondaryTransmitEnabled
Select true to enable transmission of random (secondary) messages.
  8. Configure the following common settings for GOES connection.
    centerTransmit
    • true (default): Transmission of the timed (primary) message occurs centered to the given transmission time window. If the transmission takes, for example, 4 seconds and the window length is set to 10 seconds, a centered transmission starts 3 seconds after the scheduled transmission time. Vaisala recommends to use this option.
    • false: Transmission of the timed (primary) message starts at the beginning of the given transmission time window, that is, at the scheduled transmission time.
    maxTimeDiff
Allowed system time error (in seconds) before adjusting time from the transmitter's GPS.
    pollInterval

Forced transmitter polling interval (default = 1:00:00).

You can edit the polling interval to provide value updates more frequently, for example during commissioning and troubleshooting.
    rfPowerReduction
RF power reduction in 0.5 dB steps. 0 = Full power.
  9. To save the changes, select Save.
