Periodic maintenance of PAA‑36XW includes:
-
Cleaning the sensor surface and the small holes in the sensor head with a soft cotton swab and rinsing with clear water. If the sensor is really dirty, use a solvent to clean it.
The cleaning schedule depends on the water quality at the installation site:
- In sediment-rich waters, clean the sensor monthly.
- In clear waters, clean the sensor every 6 months.
When installing the sensor to a new site, check the sensor after a month to determine how often cleaning is needed.
- Calibrating the sensor once a year.
In environments where marine wildlife may attach itself to the sensor and affect the observations, Vaisala recommends coating the sensor or the installation tube with antifouling tape. If the sensor already has wildlife attached to it, first remove the wildlife and then clean the attachment spot with acidic solvent.
