Allow sufficient clearance for the mast to be lowered and erected. Provide access to the sensors in the lowered mast and leave room for the equipment enclosure when lowered.

Figure 1. Recommended mast location in open area. In general, there must be at least 150 m (500 ft) of open area to all directions from the mast. The minimum distance between the mast and an obstacle is 10 times the height of the obstacle.
