Pluvio2 L is an automatic sensor that measures the intensity and amount of precipitation. It consists of a collecting bucket that is installed on a base plate. The base plate contains an electronic weighing and balancing mechanism with an integrated temperature sensor that compensates for the temperature changes in the balance system. The bucket has a catchment area of 400 cm2 (62 in2) and recording capacity of 750 mm (295.3 in).
Pluvio2 L recognizes liquid and solid precipitation by tracking the weight of the collecting bucket. The actual sensor is a high-precision stainless steel load cell that weighs the bucket contents. The cell is hermetically sealed against environmental influences and remains stable for a long time. The mechanical overload protection prevents damage to the load cell from blunt forces in the vertical direction, for example, during transport, or when emptying the collecting bucket.
Pluvio2 L is available with an optional heating system for the bucket rim.
