Vaisala Termbox is used when the weather station includes Vaisala Ceilometer CL31. Termbox makes it easier to connect power and sensor cables to the weather station, especially when the cables are thick. Termbox is not used on solar-powered sites.
Termbox acts as the connection point and surge protector device for mains power and signal line cables. The maximum diameter for an AC (mains) power cable inside the termination box is 25 mm (0.98 in). The connector contacts are suitable for cable leads up to 10 mm2 (7 AWG).
Termbox offers connection points and surge protectors for up to 2 signal lines. Surge protectors are available for the following signal line types:
- Leased‑line modem
- RS‑485
- RS‑232C
- Local operating network (LON)
Termbox is adaptable for different needs. The number of signal line protectors can vary up to 2 units and the number of cable glands in use can also vary by replacing them with blocking plugs.
