Technical description

The reduced air pressure QFE (pressure at a certain level) is calculated with the following formula:

Q F E = P A e L T 1
Explanation of QFE pressure calculation formula
Item Explanation
QFE Reduced pressure [hPa]
PA Atmospheric pressure [hPa]
L Reduction level [m]
T1 7996 + 0.0086 * L + 29.33 * TA
TA Air temperature [°C]
The reduction level for QFE processing is the elevation difference of the pressure sensor and the QFE level into which the pressure will be reduced. If the pressure sensor is above the QFE level, the reduction level to get the QFE level pressure is a positive value. If the sensor is below the QFE level, the reduction level is a negative value.
Inputs for QFE pressure calculation
Input Variable
Air temperature (TA) TAAVG1M (average 1‑minute temperature)
Atmospheric pressure (PA) PAAVG1M (average 1‑minute measured atmospheric pressure)
Reduction level (L)
