WARNING After disconnecting the power cable, dangerous voltages can exist for some time. To avoid injury, disconnect the power and discharge circuits before touching them.
WARNING Do not service the system alone. Do not reach into parts and assemblies that are AC (mains) powered and live except in the presence of someone who can provide first aid.
WARNING Do not replace the battery with a battery of an incorrect type. If you do, there is a risk of deflagration. Dispose of used batteries according to statutory regulations.
  • 3-mm Allen key (of FD70 toolkit)
  • Cable ties
  • Side-cutting pliers

The following instructions are applicable only to the 12 V / 2.3 Ah backup batteries supplied by Vaisala.

Make sure that you have the replacement spare part available.

  1. Switch off both AC (mains) power switch and battery switch.

    Make sure that there is no AC (mains) power available for the system.

    In 2022, the AC (mains) power switch (1P+1 circuit breaker) was replaced with an AC (mains) power switch (2P circuit breaker).
  2. Disconnect the connectors from the battery charger and the backup battery.

  3. Replace the battery charger assembly, but keep the battery.
  4. Connect the cables from the battery charger to the backup battery:
    • Insert the red battery cable into the flat cable connector in the positive ( + ) terminal in the backup battery.
    • Insert the black battery cable into the flat cable connector in the negative ( ˗ ) terminal in the backup battery.
  5. Place the backup battery in the replacement battery holder.
  6. Mount the assembly to the interface unit, and fix in place with 2 screws.
    WARNING Make sure that the battery switch in in the OFF position during mounting.

    Use the 3-mm Allen key delivered in the FD70 tool kit.

  7. Attach the 2 connectors.
  8. Connect the backup battery cable to the cable tie holders on the side of the power board.
  9. Power up the system.
  10. Verify operation.
