If the product does not work as it should, go through this troubleshooting procedure.
-
Depending on the problem, do one of the following.
- Data messages are coming through, but the measurement values are invalid (////): Check the device status through the CLI with the STATUS command. For message details, see Status message.
- Data messages are not coming
through: Continue with the next step.
If the device is part of a larger system, for example Vaisala AviMet, check the troubleshooting information of that system first.
-
Try establishing a maintenance connection remotely, both to data 1 and data 2.
If you can connect to the device, check the device status through the CLI with the STATUS command. For message details, see Status message.
-
After checking with the STATUS command, perform a check using the
ELOG command.
For more information, see ELOG command.
- If you cannot connect to the device, check the operation of the communication devices at the receiving end.
-
Go to the site and try the following.
- Check that the device is getting power. Inside the interface unit, check the LEDs of the power supply board.
- Reset the device. See Resetting FD70 (soft reset).
- Check that the AC (mains) power switch and the battery switch are not switched off.
- Check the cables and connectors in the flange and inside the interface unit for continuity, bad contacts, or corrosion.
- Check that the surge protectors are working.
-
Check the operation of the communication devices at the transmitting end.
This includes the devices for data 1 and data 2 and their LEDs.
- Check the communication and message settings of data 1 and data 2 through the CLI.
-
Using terminal software, type the following commands and log the responses to a text
file:
- SYSTEM: information about the device setup.
- STATUS: information about the internal diagnostics.
- GET: list of all parameter values.
- ELOG: display of event log.
- If the failure persists, contact Vaisala Technical Support.
