Troubleshooting FD70
Problem Probable cause Actions
Data message missing Dialog not operating Check cable connections and perform a reset.
Wrong communication parameters Check the communication port settings on your computer and FD70. See Configuring serial line connectionsand Configuring TCP/IP connection.
Check the cable connections.
If a modem is used, verify that the same modem standard is used in both modems and one is in the answer mode and the other in the originate mode.
Port is not in DATA mode Check that the port is DATA mode (parameters com1.func.mode and com2.func.mode).
Sensor is out of power

Check that the AC (mains) power switch and the circuit breaker are on and the LEDs on the power supply board are lit. If no LED is lit, check the glass fuses on the AC power supply board and verify the presence of a line voltage.

Measurement values missing in the message Alarm-level alert is active causing measurement values to be invalid Check the device status with STATUS command to see which alarm is active and remove the cause of the alarm.
Unable to create maintenance connection through dedicated maintenance (CLI) port Port settings do not match between device and computer Check the serial port settings on your computer and FD70. See Configuring serial line connections and Configuring TCP/IP connection.
Port is in data (DATA) mode Use open command or try to open the maintenance connection from another port.
Unable to create maintenance connection through data (DATA) port Device has unit ID set that you do not know If you have only one device on the bus, use format OPEN * that opens the command line regardless of the unit ID.

If several devices are connected on the same bus, all the devices would switch to CLI mode, which is likely to cause communication collision. If unit ID is not known, use local maintenance connection with open * (OPEN command).

Port settings do not match between device and computer Check the communication port settings on your computer and the device Configuring serial line connectionsand Configuring TCP/IP connection).
