The GMP251 probe can be installed in an environment with an operating temperature range of −40 … +60 °C (−40 … +140 °F) 1. Make sure the probe is in a location that represents the measurement environment properly.

In environments with high levels of humidity and risk of condensation, install the probe horizontally to prevent condensation from forming inside the filter and on the optical surfaces.

The 5-pin male M12 connector on the probe provides an easy plug-in/plug-out connection to a compatible cable. Using a shielded cable in the installation and grounding is recommended. The GMP251 probe itself does not require a shielded cable, but if the installation environment contains high levels of EMC noise, the disturbance may be transmitted to another connected device through an unshielded cable. Vaisala Online Store at offers a wide selection of shielded cables in different lengths.

1 Occasional short-term exposure to up to +90 °C (+194 °F) allowed, provided that the probe is fully installed inside the measured condition and power is switched on. Measurement accuracy specification of the probe not applicable if used in temperatures above +60 °C (+140 °F).
