After preparing the radiosonde for the sounding, check the radiosonde status on the radiosonde cover. When the green LED is on, the radiosonde is ready for release. After the launch, the LED light switches off.
RS41 LED lights
LED Meaning
Green LED is blinking.

The reconditioning of the humidity sensor and sensor checks are in progress and/or the radiosonde is not receiving GNSS signal. To receive the GNSS signal, take the radiosonde outside with line of sight to GNSS satellites.

Green LED is continuously on.
  1. The radiosonde is ready and working. The diagnostics cover the temperature and humidity sensors.
  2. GNSS satellites are detected after startup. If the LED starts blinking, there may be a GNSS blind spot (for example, inside the balloon shelter). Take the radiosonde outside with line of sight to GNSS satellites before launch.
  3. Telemetry from RS41 is working.
Even if the radiosonde LED light is continuously lit and green and the telemetry is working, it does not indicate that the sounding software receives data from the radiosonde. Check from the sounding software that the sounding software receives the data.
Red LED is on.

Error. Check the sounding software for any error messages.

Red LED is blinking. Additional sensor is not connected.
