| Before
installing the sensor, write down the sensor serial number, the length of the sensor cable,
the subsurface type, the installation depth, and the installation place. This is needed for
the metadata in the RWS200 Web UI. |
| WARNING When performing
installation and maintenance procedures at the roadside, follow local and state
legislation and regulations for road safety. |
| CAUTION Vaisala
strongly recommends that only certified technicians install embedded sensors. |
You can install DTS12G in the same slot with
DRS511 or in its own slot. Install the sensor tip exactly 300 mm (11.81 in) below the road
surface.
-
Before installing the sensor, check the cable visually for any signs of damage.
-
If you suspect that the cable might be damaged, use a multimeter to measure the
resistance between the following Pt100 wires.
| Wire color |
Wire color |
Expected resistance 1 |
| Yellow |
Green |
100 … 130 Ω |
| Yellow |
Blue or white |
2 … 20 Ω |
| Green |
Red or brown |
2 … 20 Ω |
-
If you suspect that some other wires are damaged, connect the cable to the DRI701
and check that the sensor and its observations are shown in the Web UI.
-
Drill a hole through the cable slot.
-
Insert the sensor in the drilled hole.
-
Compact the hole with the drilled debris or filler sand.
-
Remove any excess debris using an air blower or compressed air.
-
Mark the cable end with the lane and direction.
These are needed for the sensor
metadata.
