Before installing the sensor, write down the sensor serial number, the scaling factors printed on the label of the sensor cable, the length of the sensor cable, the installation place, pavement type, pavement elevation, and pavement exposure. This is needed for the metadata in the RWS200 Web UI.
  1. Before installing the sensor, check the cable visually for any signs of damage.
    1. If you suspect that the cable might be damaged, use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the following Pt100 wires.
Wire color Wire color Expected resistance 1
      Brown White (paired with brown) 100 … 190 Ω
      Blue White (paired with brown) 100 … 190 Ω
      Blue White (paired with blue) 5 … 90 Ω
    2. If you suspect that some other wires are damaged, connect the cable to the DRI701 and check that the sensor and its observations are shown on the Web UI.
  2. If you are using Fabick as the filling material, attach the installation cap with the sticker to the sensor.

The installation cap is included in the Fabick installation kit. The cap is 2 mm (0.08 in) thick to make it easier to position the sensor correctly.

  3. If you do not have the installation cap, to protect the sensor head during installation, cover the DRS511 head with masking tape, electrical tape, or insulation tape.

Cut the tape carefully to the exact size of the sensor head.

  4. Mark the cable end with the lane and direction.

These are needed for the sensor metadata.

1 The expected resistance depends on the ambient temperature and cable length.
