-
Cut the Type V cable to the desired length.
Leave up to 3 m (10 ft) of the cable coiled inside the splice can or junction box.
-
Make a 13‑cm (5‑inch) lengthwise cut on the cable jacket and shield to expose the
wires.
- Remove the core wrap.
- Clean the gel from the wires. Keep the wire pairs together.
- Retwist the wire pairs to maintain their pair identification.
- Strip approximately 12 mm (0.5 in) from the end of each wire.
- Use the provided ferrules to crimp the wire ends.
- Flatten the exposed cable jacket and shield.
- Cut the flattened part to a 5‑cm (2‑in) tab.
- Punch or drill a 0.64‑cm (0.25‑in) diameter hole at the center of the tab, 1.3 cm (0.5 in) from the end.
-
Use a utility knife or wire brush to scrape away the non-conductive blue coating on the
metal shielding.
- Wrap the sensor shield or drain wire around the stud of the threaded shield bond connector.
-
Ground the sensor shield or drain wire to the cable shield with the shield bond
connector.
