Before splicing the cable, fill in the sensor validation sheet. This information is needed to recalibrate the sensor.

The sensor validation sheet is included in the splice kit instructions and in DRS511 and DTS12G Installation and Maintenance Manual (M010032EN).

  1. Shorten the sensor cable if needed.
Fill in the scaling factors (SCFS and SCFB) in the sensor validation sheet before trimming the cable. The scaling factors are written on the cable.
  2. Peel off 23 cm (9 in) of the cable jacket and shield from the cable end.
  3. Retwist the wire pairs to maintain their pair identification.
  4. In the DRS511 cable, insulate the white and brown pair from the other wire pairs.
CAUTION Insulate the shield of the white and brown pair with an insulation tube and insulation tape, or a heat shrink tube. The white and brown pair must not come in contact with the other wires.
  5. Strip approximately 12 mm (0.5 in) from the end of each wire.
  6. Use ferrules to crimp the wire ends.
