Make sure that nothing obstructs the
sensor during the day. Check the height of the nearest obstruction, and leave at least
10 times that distance between the obstruction and the pyranometer. For example, if the
nearest obstruction is a 5‑meter (16 foot 5 inch) tree, leave at least 50 meters
(164 feet) between the tree and the pyranometer.
Install the pyranometer on a mounting plate. Temperature fluctuations of the pyranometer body can produce offset signals. The non-conducting materials of the mounting plate thermally isolate the sensor from its fixtures.
Make sure that the sensor is level.
The manufacturer recommends that you point the cable towards the nearest pole (South Pole or North Pole).
WARNING Do not perform
installation or maintenance procedures when there is a risk of thunderstorm or
lightning activity in the area.

The mounting kit package contains additional screws, washers, and nuts. Those are used for installing other pyranometers.
To prevent corrosion,
oxidation, and seizing, use a non‑conductive, non‑water‑soluble, non‑silicone‑based
grease, such as ceramic or Teflon paste, between different kinds of metal.
Attach the leveling screws into the holes on the sensor.
Place the sensor on the mounting plate and attach it with the hex screws. Tighten the screws so that the leveling screws lightly touch the mounting plate.

To level the sensor, use the spirit level on the sensor. Turn the leveling screws accordingly, starting from the one nearest to the spirit level.
Secure the sensor tightly with the two hex screws. Make sure that the sensor maintains its leveled position.
Connect the sensor cable.
Write down the sensor serial number and installation height. This is needed for the metadata in the Web UI.
