Windows deploys User Account Control (UAC), a protection mechanism which improves security against unauthorized or unintentional access to various system resources. As AWS Client was not initially designed to operate with UAC, the settings on your computer may prevent AWS Client from operating properly.

AWS Client does not give a single identifiable error message, but UAC can affect communication between the QML data logger and AWS Client, for example, the cleanup operation does not work. To avoid this, make sure that you run AWS Client in administrator mode.

  1. Right-click the AWS Client shortcut icon, and select Properties.
  2. In the Compatibility tab, select Run this program as an administator.
  3. To change the setting for all users, select Change settings for all users.
To perform this operation, you must have administrator privileges to Windows.
  4. To save the changes, select Apply and OK.
