The mA output module card adds mA outputs to Multichannel User Interface MI. On the module card there are 2 independent 4 … 20 mA current sources. Both current outputs are configurable independently to indicate for example process concentration or temperature or other diagnostic data of any connected refractometer. A mA output has traceable calibration, accuracy is ±0.02 mA.
Maximum load (compliance) is 1000 Ω. There is a place inside the Multichannel User Interface MI where the cable shield can be connected for grounding.
Item | Specification |
---|---|
Conductor cross section | 0.14 … 1.5 mm2 (28 … 16 AWG) |
Tightening torque | 0.25 Nm (0.18 ft lbs) |
The mA outputs are compliant to Namur NE43. NAMUR NE 43 uses the 3.8 … 20.5 mA signal range for measurement information, with values ≥21 mA or ≤3.6 mA to indicate diagnostic failures. With that information, it is easier to detect a failure condition on a refractometer, for example, it clearly tells you if you have an empty pipe.
Certain malfunctions cause the mA measurements to return to mA default output value, see the following table. Factory setting for default output value is 3.4 mA.
