The MI implements an Ethernet / IP adapter that provides measurement data for connected scanners. Currently active MI app configuration determines the available measurement data and the Ethernet/IP connection parameters. Connection can be set up easily with the Windows PC tool “Vaisala MI/CI EDS Generator” that generates EDS files based on the requested MI app configuration. The tool is available at https://www.vaisala.com/en/industrial-measurements/products/liquid-concentration. When using the tool, select the apps that are configured for each appslot on MI, then press GENERATE EDS FILE and choose the name and location for the new EDS file.

The data content of the O > T and T > O instances is a combination of individual app data contents. The following tables provide the data content of individual apps.

Table 1. 60-byte data of Refractometer app (Recipe app has an identical set of output data)
Name Bytes Type Function
Conc 0-3 REAL Final concentration value
Temp 4-7 REAL Process temperature
Calc 8-11 REAL Calculated concentration value
nD 12-15 REAL Calculated refractive index value
S/N 16-27 STRING Refractometer serial number
Status 28-59 STRING Refractometer status message
Table 2. 2-byte input data of Refractometer app
Name Bytes Type Function
ExtWash 0-1 INT External wash request input
Table 3. 2-byte input data of Recipe app
Name Bytes Type Function
RecipeID 0-1 INT Recipe identification number input

The connection can be set up manually with the following parameters: Port: 0xAF12 (44818)

O > T:

  • Instance number: 119
  • Data size: sum of configured app’s input data sizes, see the tables above.
  • Real time format: modeless
  • Packet rate: 1000 ms

T > O:

  • Instance number: 109
  • Data size: sum of configured app’s output data sizes, see the tables above.
  • Real time format: modeless
  • Packet rate: 1000 ms
  • Connection type: point to point
