Vaisala viewLinc Enterprise Server 5.2.0.3032
Date: February 2024
New features
- Alarming capabilities
- New alarm types provide a more accurate picture of system data:
- Provisional alarms indicate the potential for out-of-specification conditions, even if complete data is not yet available.
- Delayed historical data alarms indicate that the system is still processing previously generated data.
- Unrecoverable data alarms indicate that the historical data is missing or nonexistent.
- Active Directory
- Administrators can now manage viewLinc users and groups via Windows Active Directory, allowing automatic user creation and synchronizing of user or group status and membership, as well as secure authentication.
- Security
- All in-transit data is secured with Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3.
As a result of this enhancement, all AP10s in your system need to be running firmware version 5.0 or higher. For more information, see the technical note viewLinc 5.2 Compatibility Requirements for AP10 VaiNet Wireless Access Points. - Language support
- Korean language support is now added to the viewLinc UI, bringing the number of supported languages to 11.
Important Notes
- If you are upgrading an earlier version of viewLinc, refer to the viewLinc User Guide for upgrade instructions.
- Always back up application data before upgrading.
- To ensure data timestamp accuracy, verify that the viewLinc Enterprise Server time is set accurately before installing the viewLinc software.
- If communication is interrupted during an upgrade, restart the viewLinc Enterprise Server (ES) machine after all device hosts are upgraded. If communication does not resume after viewLinc ES restart, manually enter the viewLinc ES IP address in the “server_name” entry in the [remote_host] section of the device host config file (Public Documents\Vaisala\Vaisala viewLinc\config\viewLinc.cfg), then restart the viewLinc Device Host Service.
- viewLinc uses a certificate and security key to establish a secure connection between network PCs and the viewLinc Enterprise Server. You can generate a certificate and security key during installation or upload existing certificate/key files. Additional information about security certificates is available in the viewLinc User Guide and in the SSL/TLS certificates tech note on the Vaisala docs portal.
- Tools for self-signing existing certificates or obtaining trusted certificates are available on the viewLinc installation USB.
- Changing a single-probe RFL data logger to dual-probe (T/RH to T+T): To avoid new probe data being applied to an incorrect Location, first unlink both of the temperature and RH channels from their linked Locations, then remove the probes. Connect the new temperature only probe(s) following the instructions provided with the probe, and then link them to the correct Location(s).
- Visit the viewLinc Errata and Service Update Guide for a current list of known issues and fixes.
